WhatsApp is gradually rolling out a new label to easily mark AI-generated media in channels. Once added, the label is visible to every follower who opens the channel. In some countries, channel admins are legally required to add it whenever they share AI-generated media.

WhatsApp is introducing five new categories for chat themes to iOS users, and one of these lets them choose animated wallpapers. WhatsApp also selects the bubble color automatically for every theme to keep the text readable and the interface accessible. These updates will allow WhatsApp to complete the Liquid Glass transition before iOS 27 launches. Both the drawing editor screen and the progress bar for the video player will be compatible with Liquid Glass in an upcoming update.

WhatsApp is rolling out notifications for pinned messages on the stable version, making it easier to notice when someone pins a message in a chat. The notification shows the content of the pinned message without opening the conversation. This feature is particularly useful in large group chats where users may miss important messages if they do not open the conversation.
