There is no news about iOS this week, but WhatsApp has released very interesting updates for Android, because they brought information about new features under development for some future updates:
- We have discovered Community Home, a new place where you can find your communities and all groups linked to a specific community, available in a future update.
- A new feature that improves the way to send multiple media after taking a photo is under development: a redesigned media picker.
- We have also spotted some details about when a group invite link becomes unavailable for everyone: in particular, this happens when the group has been ended due to moderation reasons.
- We explained that Google is planning to offer limited space to store our WhatsApp backups at a later date. Backups will count against our Google Drive storage quota again, but they will offer a free limited plan.
But something bad happened this week: WhatsApp has released two beta updates (2.22.4.6 and 2.22.4.7) and WhatsApp kept stopping after installing these versions. After some hours, WhatsApp has released the 2.22.4.8 beta update, fixing the issue.
In addition, WhatsApp has also released a new update for Windows, the UWP version, bringing some minor animations in order to improve the user interface, and more rounded chat bubbles and message menu. Probably the UWP version will get other updates that improve the user interface soon.
Stay tuned for more WhatsApp news and updates coming next week!
