EDIT MESSAGES

A few days ago, we announced that the beta program for WhatsApp Web beta is available. With this beta program, WhatsApp wants to provide users with new beta features while looking for bug reports and feedback. We were wondering which features were available after joining the beta program, and we have finally news today. After logging into WhatsApp Web beta, we discovered that WhatsApp is releasing the ability to edit messages to some beta testers!

As you can see in this screenshot, the action “edit messages” is finally available when you open the menu options for a text message. When you select this option, you will be prompted to edit the message within a new window. In case the feature is enabled for your WhatsApp account, you have up to 15 minutes to edit your messages in your chats and groups, and it is possible to edit messages multiple times.

The limit to edit messages has been set to maintain the authenticity of the conversation so that users cannot completely change the message after a long time, as this feature is a tool that should only be used to correct typing errors. Note that it is only possible to edit text messages, and some improvements for the editing features are planned to be released in the future.

The ability to edit messages is available to some beta testers that joined the official beta program of WhatsApp Web, and it is rolling out to even more people over the coming weeks. We can also confirm that this feature will be released to mobile apps soon.
