CHANNELS LIST
In the article about the WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.8.0.75 update, we announced a new feature under development: channels. Channels are a new one-to-many tool for broadcasting information from people you wish to get news from, that will be available within the status updates tab. The feature is still in development but, thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.9.0.76 update available on the TestFlight app, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on a feature to see a list of channels users follow:

As you can see in this screenshot, channels will be listed within the Status tab, which is now called “Updates”, where both status updates and channels are shown. In particular, status updates will always be displayed horizontally in order to provide more space for the channels list. Instead, channels will be shown under the section where status updates are listed. Note that this feature is still in development, so the interface you see in the screenshot may get some changes or revisions before the official release, for which we do not know a date, unfortunately.
WhatsApp will allow users to have complete control over which channels they follow, and when they follow a new channel, this action will remain private. There are no algorithmic recommendations and this means that users will only see content they have chosen to see and follow. In addition, as we said in our previous articles, channels will support handles, allowing users to easily search and access preferred updates.
The feature regarding channels is under development and it will be released in a future update of the app. As always, we’re going to publish a new article when we have further details about this feature to share with you.
