Due to some complications with the Central Bank Of Brazil, that declared WhatsApp could hurt banks and the local system of Payments in Brazil, WhatsApp had to disable this feature. The last months WhatsApp has finally received the authorization to release the feature again to send money to your friends and family (the feature isn’t available yet to send money to businesses), and today it’s available for certain users in Brazil.
How to verify if the feature is enabled? Just open any chat and tap the chat share menu: if you see a payments action, the feature is available for your WhatsApp account.
Very excited to start enabling Payments in WhatsApp in Brazil today. This will be a gradual roll-out, but enabling people in 🇧🇷 to pay one another in conversations as easily as sending a text message is going to be so useful! pic.twitter.com/3YQGdz74QK

If it’s not enabled, you need to receive a payment request from any contact that has the feature enabled in his WhatsApp account. The Payment request is a concept already used to enable WhatsApp UPI Payments in India. Payments requests are always free, so you don’t need to send money for real to enable payments for a friend: you just need to send the payment request.
More countries will be eligible to receive WhatsApp Payments in the future, for example Mexico, UK and Spain.
Stay tuned to discover when WhatsApp Payments is available in other countries!
