Group chats are becoming ever more important: just think that WhatsApp increased the number of people that can join a group up to 1024 participants and sub-groups for WhatsApp Communities.
For this reason, WhatsApp is now working on a mute shortcut for group chats, available in a future update of WhatsApp Desktop beta:
As you can see in this screenshot, a mute shortcut will show up within the header of group chats: thanks to this shortcut, it will be easier to disable notifications of messages received in the group. Note that WhatsApp has released the ability to automatically disable notifications for large groups on WhatsApp beta for Android two weeks ago so you can understand that they care about reducing the number of notifications you receive from group chats every day.
The mute shortcut for group chats is under development and it will be released in a future update of WhatsApp Desktop beta. As always, we will inform you about news for this feature by publishing a new article on this website.
