WhatsApp is rolling out status updates within the chat list on Desktop beta

After releasing the ability to create polls to everyone on the web/desktop client, WhatsApp is now rolling out status updates within the chat list to some users on the latest WhatsApp Desktop update!

STATUS UPDATES

In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.19.17 update, we announced a new feature available to some beta testers: the ability to view status updates right within the chat list. The same feature has also been released to some users after installing the WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.18.0.70 update. Finally, this is rolling out to even more users after installing the latest update of WhatsApp Desktop beta!

As you can see in this screenshot, it is easy to discover if the feature is enabled for your WhatsApp account: just check people that shared a status update within the status section and see if a ring around the profile photo shows up within the chat list. In case the feature is not available for your account, just keep your version of WhatsApp up to date in order to get the feature at a later date.

The ability to view status updates within the chat list has been released to some users and it will be rolled out to more people over the coming weeks.
