Previous news? | WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.20.3: what’s new? WhatsApp is working on preventing people from keeping certain disappearing messages! |
On August 26, 2022, WhatsApp released the 2.22.19.10 update to beta testers that brings the ability to change the app language within WhatsApp Settings and the Welcome Screen. The feature was available for some beta users but, thanks to the new WhatsApp for Android 2.22.19.72 version, it is finally available to more people so it is no longer an exclusive feature for beta testers:
What’s the difference between the previous 2.22.19.10 update? WhatsApp is releasing a particular build for all Android users, and it is available on their official website. The build is a release candidate and people who are not enrolled in the beta program can install this build that’s always more stable than the beta version: in this case, some people on non-beta can finally change the language of the app!
Even on a release candidate, features may only be rolled out to certain people. To discover if you have received the feature, just open WhatsApp Settings and if you see here a new setting called “app language”, it means the feature is available on your non-beta account. Thanks to the new setting, you can quickly change the language of the app by choosing one of several available. In addition, this release candidate offers all bug fixes and performance improvements implemented to all previous 2.22.19 beta builds: for example, WhatsApp has fixed the layout of the GIF keyboard because it showed up with an unexpected height.
The ability to change the app language has been released to some people today and more activations are planned over the coming days.
