IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE ABOUT TEXT
After releasing the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.8.24 update on the Google Play Store, that brings a fix for the issue that prevented the app from downloading videos, WhatsApp is now rolling out minor improvements within the contacts list. In particular, WhatsApp is introducing an additional line for showing the about text of your contacts, and it is available for some beta testers that install the latest version of the app:
As you can see in this screenshot, the about text in the current version of the app appears longer than the one in the previous version as there is an additional line now. But this is not the only change regarding the about text since it also appears within the contacts list while forwarding a message now. In our opinion, this change is not very important compared to other new features in development, but we can consider it as another minor quality-of-life change of the app.
Probably, you’re wondering why WhatsApp introduced this minor change. The previous single-line limit often made it difficult for users to read a longer about text, as they were truncated and required the user to tap to view the full text. The two-line view now eliminates this issue, as a longer about text is now broken up into two lines, making it easier for users to read it.
These improvements for the about text within the contacts list are available for some beta testers that install the latest update of WhatsApp beta for Android from the Play Store, and they are rolling out to even more people over the coming days.
