|Previous news?||WhatsApp needs to look ahead!|
In the article about WhatsApp beta for Android 188.8.131.52 we explained that WhatsApp is finally working on a chat history migration feature between iOS and Android. The method used to migrate the chat history is unknown, but it’s possible that Google Drive will be used. More information will be published when we have new details.
But… what happens after migrating the chat history to another device? Devices will start to be in sync with each other. This is needed when you do some chat actions, for example pinning a chat, starring a message, or any other background service related to multi device functionalities.
When WhatsApp, on your current device, is syncing with WhatsApp on another device (having the same WhatsApp account), a notification will be presented:
It must be said that actions like chat deletion won’t be synchronized. This is what we know now:
- Deleting a chat on a device won’t remove the same chat on another device.
- Deleting a specific message for everyone will delete it on any linked device.
- Deleting a specific message for you won’t delete it on linked devices.
Note that WhatsApp is still working on multi device and what needs to be synced, so everything might change before the release: the last word has not been said yet.
The feature is under development. Unfortunately there isn’t a known release date, and it will be available in a future update on WhatsApp for Android and iOS. Stay tuned to discover new features and announcements!
