Two months ago, we published a changelog for the WhatsApp beta for Android .2.21.17.5 update, reporting that WhatsApp was planning to offer a new way to view status updates.
A new beta was released yesterday, and WhatsApp is finally rolling out this feature!
As you can see in this screenshot, it’s possible to view status updates visiting the Business Info page. If there is a new status update from the business (like in the screenshot), you can view it directly here by tapping the profile picture: in this case, you can choose between “view profile photo” and “view status”.
Note that WhatsApp is not replacing the old way to view status updates from Business accounts: you can still see those status updates from the Status tab.
Seen that we mentioned “Business Info”, you can understand that it’s not possible to view status updates from “normal” WhatsApp accounts visiting “Contact Info”: this possibility may be released in a future update.
