After releasing the ability to create a community on WhatsApp beta for Android, WhatsApp is now rolling out a new camera shortcut to some Android beta testers as a replacement for the camera tab!

In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.19.7 update, we posted news about a new camera shortcut, available for those users that can create a community. In fact, the camera tab is automatically replaced with the communities tab when the feature that lets people create a community is enabled. Some hours ago, WhatsApp released the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.20.4 update and the company has rolled out the new camera shortcut to some beta testers during the day!
As you can see in this screenshot, you can immediately notice if the new camera shortcut is enabled for your account: just check if the camera shortcut shows up next to the search button. But you can still see the camera tab: in fact, this feature has probably been enabled by mistake since it had to only be enabled for those users that have the ability to create a community. For this reason, we should expect a bug fix update that will address the issue soon: in this case, we will keep up to date in the next few hours.
The new camera shortcut is available to some beta testers and, as always, new activations for more beta testers are planned over the coming days.
