ANDROID COMPANION DEVICE

In March 2022, WhatsApp released the WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.7.0.76 update by bringing the support for iOS 15, after 6 months from the first release of iOS 15. Today, a new WhatsApp beta update is available on the TestFlight app and it is compiled by using the iOS 16 SDK: it is unexpected since we needed to wait for 6 months to get a compatible build with iOS 15. Since this is the first version built by using the iOS 16 SDK, you may experience some little bugs and glitches.
But what about the new features available in this build? At the moment, you may see some changes within the linked devices section:

Two weeks ago, we announced that WhatsApp was releasing the companion mode on Android beta so users can finally use their existing WhatsApp account on a secondary Android device. Even if it was already possible to link an existing account on iOS with an Android device after installing the most recent update of WhatsApp beta for Android, it was still not recognized within the linked devices section on iOS. Finally, WhatsApp updated the list of possible linked devices on the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS so the Android device is now recognized.

Android is now recognized as a companion device after installing the WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.24.0.76 update from the TestFlight app. Unfortunately, we still don’t have information about the companion mode on iOS but we will post an article on this website when we have news to share with you.
