WhatsApp has recently submitted a new update through the TestFlight Beta Program, bringing the version up to 2.19.110.17.
I always recommend to back up your chat history before updating to the new beta: if there is something wrong with the update, your messages are safe on iCloud and you can downgrade to the precedent version from TestFlight or App Store.
Let’s find out together what is new ..
- All features and changes listed in this article will be available in the next version on the App Store, the 2.19.110 official update (except for the Dark Theme, that’s under development). Some of these changes might be already implemented for the current WhatsApp Business beta version.

- Sometimes the new splash screen doesn’t appear.
- The profile picture icon doesn’t appear in WhatsApp Settings.
There isn’t actually a solution for these issues, so you need to wait the next beta from TestFlight.
WhatsApp has implemented a new splash screen when you open the app!
A similar splash-screen was implemented in the latest WhatsApp Business beta on TestFight and in the 2.19.297 Android beta update.
WhatsApp was developing on a feature that allows to completely hide the muted status updates section.
In this update, the feature appears to be available for beta testers:
When you tap the disclosure indicator, WhatsApp will collapse the section that contains all muted status updates. You can view the section again tapping that indicator.
When you received a message from a muted chat or group, WhatsApp was used to increment the app badge to notify new messages.
With this new beta, WhatsApp has stopped to increment the app badge when new messages come from muted chats and groups!
This change is available now on the latest WhatsApp Business beta on TestFlight, and in the recent WhatsApp Messenger/Business stable/beta versions for Android.
The Dark Mode feature is still under development. It means you cannot use this feature yet, but we can start to show you something about it.
In the 2.19.292 Android beta update WhatsApp has implemented (but still under development) Dark Bubbles.
Now we can show the same Dark Bubbles for iOS!
We don’t know yet when WhatsApp is going to release the Dark Mode, but they are working on it. Stay tuned!
