In April, we published a post where we explained that WhatsApp was working on some improvements for status updates: in particular, it will be possible to open status updates right within the chats list!
The feature has been spotted during the development of WhatsApp Desktop beta, but it is also coming to WhatsApp beta for Android at a later date:
As you can see in this screenshot, WhatsApp is planning to release a new update where it will be possible to view who published a status update right within the chats list, so you are always up to date when someone you are chatting with has posted a status update. This feature cannot be disabled within WhatsApp Settings.
Note that the same feature has been already spotted during the development of WhatsApp beta for iOS, and it will be available in the future. This is also under development on WhatsApp beta for Android and we do not know when it will be released, unfortunately. There will be another article when the feature is ready to be rolled out to beta testers.
