What’s new in this update? Discover all details below!
|Name of the feature?||New Terms Of Service Alert|
|Availability?||In a future update.|
|I’ve the same version but I don’t see this news, why?||It is not ready yet for the public, but we can show here a preview of the feature, available in a future build.|
|Previous article?||WhatsApp officially postpones new Terms of Service|
We have previously explained that new Terms of Service were postponed to a later date, so WhatsApp could resolve any confusion about them.
The new Terms of Services allows businesses to use solution providers, a set of tools used to manage your WhatsApp messages, in order to provide a better service for customers. Note that businesses might use all received messages from you to improve your experience on Facebook, providing targeted advertisements. If you don’t like that your messages with the business are used for this purpose, you can just avoid to chat with them. WhatsApp needs to update their Terms of Service to be transparent with their users, but our chats and messages are still end-to-end encrypted after these changes, as explained in this flow:
In the new WhatsApp beta for Android 184.108.40.206, WhatsApp is now working to improve the communication to the users with a new informative alert.
Thanks to this screenshot we can learn that:
- WhatsApp cannot read or listen to your personal conversations, because they are end-to-end encrypted. This will never change.
- Solution providers allow businesses to provide a better service. Chatting with businesses is optional.
- Processed data in order to keep your account safe. Any information is not used for profiling the user and it’s not used to create targeted advertisements on Facebook.
WhatsApp informs that the terms go into effect on May 15, 2021. Note that WhatsApp wants to highlight that all chats with businesses that use solution/cloud providers are obviously optional. Those particular chats are marked in the app, so the user always knows if he is chatting with that type of business and he can choose to stop the communication with them at any time.
