A concept is one of the best ways to share feedback about a new feature on WhatsApp beta for Android, iOS, and Desktop. Some months ago, we shared a concept about a countdown feature to prevent accidental calls and we would like to share our new concept with you today: the ability to manage custom lists for status updates!

Common questions Answers
Name of the concept? Custom audience
Availability? This feature is not available since this is a concept.
I’ve installed the latest update of WhatsApp beta but I don’t see this feature. Why? Unfortunately, this feature is a concept made by WABetaInfo so it is not a real WhatsApp feature but we hope to see it implemented in the future.

CUSTOM AUDIENCE

Some months ago, we shared the details about a new redesigned caption view that also lets users choose the audience when they send images, videos, and GIFs. People may also want to choose their status update as one of the recipients and, in this case, they can temporarily choose the audience between My Contacts, My Contacts Except, and Only Share With.
Unfortunately, it may be very complicated to edit your privacy settings for status updates when you want to share something with a certain audience, so we created a concept for a new feature:

As you can see in this concept, it is possible to create some new custom audience for our status updates so it is easy for users to quickly switch from one list to another one. This feature may be very useful so you do not need to edit “My contacts except” every time you want to share a status update with a different public.

As we said above, this is a concept, unfortunately, so it’s not a real WhatsApp feature planned to be developed for a future update of the app. Note that, since a concept is the best way to suggest new features for the future, we hope to see this feature implemented on WhatsApp at a later date. If we have further details to share with you, there will be an additional article on this website in the future.
