WHATSAPP NEWS OF THE WEEK
WhatsApp has released a lot of updates this week, bringing news about new features released to users, information about features under development and bug fixes:
- WhatsApp is rolling out a new interface for Contact Info and Group Info on iOS. In reality, the new interface for Contact Info was already available to some iOS users, but WhatsApp has finally released the feature to everyone, including the redesign for Group Info.
- WhatsApp has released a new beta update for iOS users, bringing the official support for iOS 15. More features for iOS 15 are coming after the release of a future update.
- WhatsApp has released the feature to pause and resume voice recordings that has been disabled in a previous update. In addition, WhatsApp is now disabling the preview when sharing images and videos as documents. Probably it will be available in the future again.
- In the article about WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.8.3 update, we explained that WhatsApp is planning to introduce the ability to change the app language right within WhatsApp Settings. A similar feature is already available in certain countries like India, but WhatsApp is planning to release it worldwide in a future update. In the same update, WhatsApp has also released message reactions to certain beta testers! This is surely the best news of the week, even if WhatsApp is temporarily disabling message reactions right now:
- WhatsApp has released a particular update on Android that addresses an issue with message duplication and random crashes, introduced in the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.8.4 by mistake.
- WhatsApp is developing a feature to show up indicators for end-to-end encryption at the bottom of your call history, on WhatsApp beta for Android.
- WhatsApp is releasing a new update for WhatsApp beta for Windows on the Microsoft Store, bringing the support for a sticker tab. WhatsApp is planning to introduce a new feature to sync your sticker packs, so any sticker saved on your phone will also be available on the Desktop app, in the future.
- WhatsApp has also released the WhatsApp Desktop beta 2.2211.3 update, bringing a fix for missing profile photos and group icons.
- WhatsApp is testing the ability to share media files up to 2GB in size in Argentina. This is a simple test and we do not know if WhatsApp is also planning to release the same feature in other countries.
