Yesterday, WhatsApp has released the new WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.8.4 update, that introduces the feature to pause and resume voice recordings again. In the same update, some users were experiencing two bugs: an issue that duplicated your messages and random crashes.
In this chat thread, you can see the same message received twice: in reality, the message has not been sent twice, but it’s a unique message that has been automatically duplicated. We can confirm that this bug that duplicated your messages is now fixed. About those random crashes, the issue was reported on Twitter and it is also successfully fixed.
Things like that can happen when using beta versions, so it is always recommended to back up your chat history on Google Drive before updating to a new beta version from the Play Store.
Note that, for future references, you can also try downgrading to a previous beta if you don’t have an updated backup on Google Drive, by following this guide.
