NEW INTERFACE

Three months ago, we posted an article where we shared information regarding a new sidebar for the web client. With this enhancement, WhatsApp aimed to bring a more modern interface to the web client, providing users with an improved messaging experience. Although the new revamped sidebar is still undergoing development, we just discovered that WhatsApp is actively working on introducing a new background color specifically tailored for the dark theme. This enhancement is poised to further enhance the aesthetics of the web client, providing users with a more visually pleasing interface.

As you can see in the attached screenshot, WhatsApp has plans to introduce a fresh color scheme for the dark theme, and it will be available in a future update for some beta testers. This addition is not just about aesthetics since it plays a pivotal role in enhancing the visual experience while complementing the overall design. Particularly beneficial in low-light environments, the transition from #111b20 to #12181c will introduce a subtle yet impactful shift, making the interface more visually pleasing and reducing strain on the eyes.

In our opinion, introducing a new color scheme for the dark theme not only enhances the visual appeal but also caters to users' growing desire for a redesigned experience. We believe that this addition will address the evolving preferences of users who seek a redesigned interface. It's also important to mention that the development of a new color for the dark theme isn't so surprising, especially considering the recent redesign of the Android app, which introduced notable changes such as the implementation of a bottom navigation bar and a fresh color scheme for the dark theme. This consistency across platforms will help users become accustomed to the updated aesthetics on one platform, who find a familiar and consistent look when transitioning to another.

The new interface for the dark theme is under development and it will be available in a future update of the web client. As always, we have plans to publish an additional article when we have new details to share with you.
