ENHANCED MEDIA PICKER
WhatsApp has recently released the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.13.6 update on the Google Play Store, which offers information regarding the compatibility with Meta Quest as a linked device in the future. However, WhatsApp also started released an improved media picker feature to select beta testers. With this feature, users can enjoy an enhanced experience when sending images, videos, and GIFs by experimenting with numbered thumbnails that allow users to easily keep track of the selected media and their order.
As you can see in this screenshot, there is a clear difference between the media picker before and after the latest update. Previously, when users selected media to send, a simple checkmark was displayed to indicate the selection. While this served its purpose, it often became complicated to keep track of the order for the media the user selected, particularly when a lot of items were selected. However, with the latest update, the media picker now assigns a number to each selected item, which is displayed on its thumbnail. This numbering system corresponds to the order in which the media items are selected, providing users with a clear visual reference.
Thanks to this feature, users can finally maintain control over the order in which media items are sent. Previously, users had to rely on their memory to ensure the desired sequence of media was maintained. With the new numbering feature, the process becomes much simpler as users can now see at a glance the order in which media will be shared, allowing them to make any necessary adjustments before sending.
The new enhanced media picker with numbered thumbnails is available to some beta testers that install the latest WhatsApp beta for Android update from the Google Play Store, and it is rolling out to even more people over the coming days.
