META QUEST
In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.11.6 update, we shared some information regarding the ability to connect an existing WhatsApp account with Ray-Ban Stories. In addition, we covered further news in a new article after an announcement shared by Mark Zuckerberg on Facebook. In particular, Mark Zuckerberg revealed new hands-free features for Ray-Ban Stories, such as message readouts, the ability to send end-to-end encrypted messages via WhatsApp and make private calls with end-to-end encryption. Today, thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.13.6 update available on the Google Play Store, we discovered new details regarding a new possible linked device available in the future: Meta Quest!

As you can see in this screenshot, it will be possible to link an existing WhatsApp account to a Meta Quest device as it is recognized as official linked device in a future update of the app. This is exciting news, especially after Mark Zuckerberg’s recent announcement about Meta Quest 3, the new company’s popular upcoming VR headset with its price finally dropped. In the past, some users have already attempted to get WhatsApp on the virtual reality device by forcing the installation, as the app does not seem to be officially available. With this feature, it will natively be possible to link an existing WhatsApp account to a Meta Quest device. Similar news was also spotted through the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.12.12 update, that brings useful information regarding a WhatsApp for iPad product coming soon.
Since these references were identified through the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.13.6 update and are not yet visible to the public, we confirm that it is not yet possible to connect to Meta Quest officially, as this feature is still in development. For this reason, further details are currently unavailable, such as how the connection between the existing WhatsApp account and the VR device will take place and information regarding the compatibility. As always, we can only suppose that communications will be protected by end-to-end encryption, similar to Ray-Ban Stories.
The ability to link an existing WhatsApp account to Meta Quest is under development and it will be released to beta testers in a future update of the app. We plan to post an additional article when we have further information to share with you.
