BLOCK SHORTCUTS

In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.2.10 update, we shared news about a new feature released to some beta testers: two new shortcuts to block users. Thanks to this feature, WhatsApp is making it easier to block unwanted contacts from contacting you. After the release of the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.2.0.71 update, we discovered that WhatsApp is also rolling out the same feature to some iOS beta testers:

As you can see in this screenshot, WhatsApp is introducing three new shortcuts, making it faster to block contacts:

  1. The first shortcut is always available within the context menu under the chat preview. For obvious reasons, it is not visible for group chats.
  2. The second shortcut is always available within the chat options.
  3. The third shortcut, the red side button, appears when you receive a message from an unknown contact you never chatted with in the past.

When you use one of these three shortcuts to block a contact, WhatsApp will ask if you also want to report the contact by forwarding the last 5 messages to the moderation team to help them keep the platform and other users safe. They may ban the account if they see there is a violation based on your report.

These three new shortcuts to block WhatsApp contacts are available after installing the latest update of WhatsApp beta for iOS from the TestFlight app and they will be available for more users over the coming days.
