UPDATES TAB
In the article about the WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.11.0.70 update, we shared further details about channels, a new one-to-many tool for broadcasting information. In the same article, we explained that WhatsApp plans to introduce the Updates tab, the home for Status and Channels. The feature is still in development but, after installing the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.11.0.74 update from the TestFlight app, some lucky beta testers may be able to see the Updates tab!

As you can see in this screenshot, WhatsApp redesigned the status tab, which is now called “Updates”. However, channels are still in development so they are not available in this version: this explains why we refer to this as the first version of the Updates tab, as it does not currently include channels. You are probably wondering what changes with this update. In case you see the new Updates tab, muted status updates are now available within a separate section called “Muted Status”. In addition, the shortcut to open your privacy settings has been moved to the same menu. There will also be another shortcut to create status updates, and it’s located within the menu that shows up when you tap the plus icon at the top of the screen.
With the first version of the “Updates” tab, WhatsApp probably wants users to start getting used to the initial changes for this tab. In the future, channels will also be available within the Updates tab, and there will be changes regarding how status updates are displayed, as they are arranged in a horizontal row instead of a vertical list. As always, there will be another article when channels are available.
The first version of the Updates tab is available to some lucky beta testers that install the latest version of WhatsApp beta for iOS from the TestFlight app, and it is rolling out to even more people over the coming weeks.
