In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.1.26 update, we shared information about a new feature under development: a chat transfer option. Thanks to this feature, WhatsApp is making it easier to transfer your chat history to a new Android phone without using Google Drive.
The chat transfer option is still under development but, after releasing the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.2.6 update on the Play Store, we discovered further details about this feature:

As you can see in this screenshot, WhatsApp revealed some important details about how it’s possible to use this feature: users will be able to move their chat history securely and privately to a new Android phone without using Google Drive. Note that some permissions may be needed in order to allow the app to transfer the chat history to the other device.

The chat transfer feature is under development and its release is planned in a future update of the app. Unfortunately, we don’t know its release date but we’re going to post an additional article when WhatsApp is rolling out the feature to some beta testers.
