Common questions Answers
Name of the feature? Create group shortcut
Status? Rolling out
Compatibility? Some users may receive the same feature on the 2.22.9.13 beta update, but WhatsApp is rolling out the feature more widely after installing the new WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.10.3 update.
I’ve installed this update but I do not see the new shortcut. Why? This feature has been rolled out to some beta testers and, as usual, new activations for more WhatsApp accounts are planned in a future update.

CREATE GROUP SHORTCUT

In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.10.2 update, we explained that WhatsApp was releasing a feature to change the app language to some beta testers right within WhatsApp Settings. For some reason, WhatsApp is temporarily disabling the feature: this usually happens when the company discovers a new bug and they need to release another update to fix it. In the meantime, there is another small feature released to beta testers: a shortcut to quickly create a group with a specific contact!

As you can see in this screenshot, WhatsApp has added a new shortcut called “Create Group” in the “Contact Info” section. This shortcut is only visible when you already have a group in common with the contact. When you tap the new shortcut, WhatsApp will automatically select the contact to add to a new group. The group is not immediately created because you will also be able to add more participants before its creation.
As we mentioned above, the feature has already been released to some lucky beta testers some days ago, after installing the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.9.13 update, but the rollout looks wider after installing the latest beta, and more people are able to use the new shortcut.
The feature is available to some Android beta testers and more activations are planned in the future.
