In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.9.14 update, we shared some information regarding a new privacy checkup feature. With this feature, WhatsApp made it easier for users to review their privacy settings by following a process that simplifies the task of managing privacy preferences and ensuring that users have complete control over their personal information and communication security. Instead, thanks to the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.10.7 update, WhatsApp was releasing a feature that allows users to silence unknown callers. Today, WhatsApp just revealed the ability to silence unknown callers and a privacy checkup feature by sharing a new post on the official website!

As you can see in this screenshot, the ability to silence unknown callers and the privacy checkup feature are now official as they have been announced through a new blog post. Since this is an official announcement, it means these features are now available to everyone on the latest version of the app. As a result, it is now possible to find the option to mute unknown callers within the privacy settings screen, making it easier for users to reduce the risk of falling victim to scammers and mute unsolicited unknown calls.

In the same section, it is also possible to review privacy settings with ease by selecting the privacy checkup banner. With this new feature, WhatsApp will assist users in configuring their privacy settings that enable them to select the appropriate level of protection, directly within a single place. By choosing ‘Start checkup’ within the Privacy settings screen, users will be guided through various privacy layers designed to enhance the privacy and security of their accounts.

In the blog post, WhatsApp also states how important securing private communication is, and that they want to encourage people to engage in secure check-ins with each other through private WhatsApp messages. This initiative wants to provide a safe and confidential environment for individuals to express themselves, particularly with those they hold dear more.

Note that, even if the attached screenshot is taken from WhatsApp for Android, these features have also been released to iOS users, as we announced in the article about the WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.9.0.73 update for the privacy checkup feature and the WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.10.0.70 update for the ability to silence unknown callers.

The ability to silence unknown callers and the privacy checkup feature are available after installing the latest update of WhatsApp for Android from the Google Play Store and WhatsApp for iOS from the App Store or the TestFlight app. Keep your app up to date in order to experiment with these two new features today.
