After announcing a global launch of WhatsApp Channels, WhatsApp is now exploring new improvements regarding this feature to enhance the user experience. After announcing a search feature aimed to help people quickly search for status updates and channels with the WhatsApp beta for Android 188.8.131.52 update, and a feature to automatically delete channel media, discovered thanks to the WhatsApp beta for Android 184.108.40.206 update, WhatsApp is now releasing a feature to allow users to quickly copy channel update links!
As you can see in this screenshot, there may be a new option within the message options that allows users to copy the channel update link. It enables users to immediately open the channel by presenting the message the link was associated to, making it easier for them not to lose the context of the update. It’s important to note that you do not need to be the channel creator to get a channel update link as this feature is available to all users with access to the channel.
In our opinion, this feature is beneficial as it allows users to quickly share important updates from the channel with other people, without manually forwarding the update. This means it’s also possible to share the channel update outside of WhatsApp by simply copying the link, ensuring that everyone can easily open the channel update and reference the relevant message without searching through the entire channel history.
The feature to copy channel update links is available to some users who install the latest update of WhatsApp beta for iOS from the TestFlight app and WhatsApp beta for Android from the Play Store, and it’s rolling out to more users over the coming days.
