While it may seem like there hasn’t been much news about WhatsApp for Windows lately as it’s been a while since we posted news about the app, this doesn’t mean that the development of the platform has slowed down. In fact, WhatsApp is constantly working behind the scenes to improve the user experience and ensure that the app is running smoothly on all devices by fixing bugs. In the meantime, after installing the latest WhatsApp beta for Windows 2.2306.2.0 update from the Microsoft Store, we noticed a new shortcut within the share menu in chats and groups.
As you can see in this screenshot, the new option allows you to share photos and videos directly from the app. Not that this was already possible before by using drag and drop and the other sharing option called “File”, but this option allowed you to share photos and videos as documents. Now, it’s even easier and, above all, faster to share photos and videos as media files by using the new shortcut in case you need to search for the media by using the file explorer. Note that media shared through this shortcut will be compressed so that they are sent more quickly and take up less space, just like on other platforms.
The new photo and video shortcut has been released to beta testers after installing the WhatsApp beta for Windows 2.2306.2.0 update available on the Microsoft Store. If you don’t see this update on the Microsoft Store, please note that it will be rolled out to more users over the coming days.
