MESSAGE YOURSELF

In October, we posted an article about an entry point to open the chat with our own phone number on WhatsApp beta for Android, iOS, and Desktop: thanks to this feature, you can quickly open your personal chat to save important messages and personal reminders.
Last week, WhatsApp also shared some details about this feature on Twitter: when they talk about a feature released to beta testers on Twitter, it usually means that the feature has just rolled out on stable versions of the app. But what's new this week? WhatsApp is releasing this feature to people that installed the latest WhatsApp beta for Windows 2.2248.2.0 update from the Microsoft Store:

In the past updates of the Windows native beta app, WhatsApp added an icon within the cell that represents your personal chat but it was not possible to open it. After a server-side update, it is finally possible to open the chat with your phone number: this feature is more important on Windows since the personal chat has always been hidden due to incompatibility reasons with multi-device so WhatsApp is not releasing a simple entry point but a full feature.

How does it work? Every time you send a message to the chat with your own phone number, the message will be delivered to all your linked devices so they are always available. In addition, your messages sent to this chat are end-to-end encrypted so you're the only that can see them across your linked devices.

The ability to send messages to yourself has been released to some beta testers after installing the WhatsApp beta for Windows 2.2248.2.0 update available on the Microsoft Store and it will be rolled out to more users over the coming days.
