In October, WhatsApp released the ability to set up an avatar to some lucky beta testers after installing the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.23.9 update from the Play Store and the WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.23.0.71 update from the TestFlight app. Last week, WhatsApp started releasing this feature to some lucky users on stable versions of the app and it is finally reaching everyone today!
Thanks to avatars, you can express yourself by creating a digital expression right within WhatsApp Settings. After customizing an avatar, WhatsApp will automatically create a new sticker pack that represents you so you can start sending your own avatar sticker to your contacts. In addition, you can also set up your avatar as a profile photo. Note that you can edit your avatar at any time by visiting WhatsApp Settings again and, as always, avatar messages are end-to-end encrypted so nobody can see the content of your message.
WhatsApp is announcing that’s rolling out avatars through a blog post and they also declared that they’re going to improve this feature by delivering several style enhancements over time.
The ability to set up an avatar has been released to users on WhatsApp for Android and iOS and it will be rolled out to everyone over the coming days.
