In the article about the WhatsApp Desktop beta 2.2206.1 update, we announced that WhatsApp was planning to introduce a new footer view to inform users about what is encrypted on WhatsApp. After a long time, WhatsApp is releasing the feature to some beta testers!
As you can see in this screenshot, a new footer view shows up at the end of the chat list. In reality, some users could already be able to see the same footer info last month, but the roll out seems wider for more users since last week. In addition, a similar footer view is available at the end of the list of our status update.
Note that the same footer view is also available to some users on WhatsApp beta for Android and iOS but, due to some unknown reasons, it is disappeared for some user accounts.
The new footer view has been rolled out to more beta testers, and further activations will be following over the coming weeks.
