Today, WhatsApp is finally announcing a small pilot program to some people in the US, that can finally use the Novi digital wallet within WhatsApp!
|Name of the feature?||Novi pilot program|
|Availability?||The Novi pilot program is available to a limited number of people in the US within WhatsApp for Android and iOS.|
|Previous news?||WhatsApp beta for Android 184.108.40.206: what’s new?|
In the changelog about the WhatsApp beta for Android 220.127.116.11 update, we discovered some hidden references about the integration of the Novi framework within WhatsApp: the digital wallet with no fees, to send and receive money securely and instantly.
Today there is news: Will Cathcart retweeted the news posted by Stephane Kasriel, the new Head of Novi, and David Marcus have just announced that a small pilot program is finally rolling out to some people in the US for Novi: they can finally send and receive money right within their WhatsApp chat, as we announced in our previous story. For people that live in Guatemala, the pilot program is still not available right now within WhatsApp, but they can join the trial via the standalone Novi app.
Is something changing for users? No. WhatsApp is only integrating a new service to exchange money, and your chats and calls are still end-to-end encrypted: this will never change.
The small pilot program is available in the US today, for some people that use the latest updates of WhatsApp for Android and iOS. For more information about the WhatsApp integration, you can visit the Novi website.
