COMMUNITY TABS
In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.9.17 update, we announced a new feature available to some beta testers: a community navigation feature. With this feature, WhatsApp provides users with a new organization system to offer a better way to navigate through their groups within the chat list. This feature is apparently unavailable on the iOS app but, thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.9.0.76 update released on the TestFlight app, we discovered that a similar feature to better navigate through your communities is in development:

As you can see in this screenshot, WhatsApp plans to bring a new toolbar at the top of your chat list in the future, where all your communities and the ones you joined are visible. Thanks to this feature, all your groups will be listed under their respective communities when selecting a tab. In our opinion, this is another feature developed to provide users with a better way to view a list of their groups as all groups that belong to a community will be filtered in the chat list when its parent community tab is selected.
With this feature, a blue badge appears over the community icon when you get a message from a certain group linked to a community so it will be easier for you to have more control over messages received from communities. In addition, note that this feature is limited to groups linked to a community so the groups that do not belong to a community won’t be visible within the new toolbar.
The feature regarding community tabs is under development and it will be released in a future update of the app. As always, we’re going to publish a new article when we have further details about this feature to share with you.
