The feature is especially useful for channels that publish frequent updates. Since the feature helps channel admins keep conversations more organized and connected, followers can easily understand the relationship between updates and follow-up messages. This also reduces confusion when admins need to clarify previously shared information or provide important corrections. By linking replies to earlier updates, followers can also navigate information more easily without losing track of the original announcement.

Older channel updates may become partially inaccessible despite quoted replies

Since WhatsApp Channels offer a history up to 30 days, some limitations may apply when channel admins reply to older updates. In particular, admins can still quote updates that were originally shared more than 30 days ago, even if those updates are no longer available in the channel history for everyone. However, the visibility of the original quoted update depends on when followers joined the channel. Users who followed to the channel after the original update expired from the 30-day history may not be able to open or view it. In these cases, followers may still see that a reply references another update, but the link to the original message could appear unavailable.
