WhatsApp is working on a new tab for AI-powered chats
In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.1.11 update, we announced a feature that simplifies how users can create group chats and communities. This feature centralizes all creation tools within the Chats tab. It provides a unified interface where users can start new chats, and create groups and communities. A new banner helps users find the new location to create communities, making it easier to access these tools within the centralized interface.
WhatsApp is now moving the option to create communities to the Chats tab. So they can replace the communities tab with a new section dedicated to AI-powered tools. That's what we discovered with the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.1.24 update, which is available on the Google Play Store. In particular, WhatsApp is working on a feature that introduces a dedicated tab for AI-powered chats!

As you can see from the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is developing a new feature that brings a section for AI-powered chats to the bottom navigation bar. The new tab will show all AI options available on WhatsApp. Users will be able to explore AI-powered tools offered by Meta, as well as those developed by other third-party creators. Users will be able to decide which chatbot to communicate with based on what it offers. For example, some AI tools may offer productivity tips. Others may provide specialize personal assistance. As a result, users will interact with the chatbot they prefer based on their preferences.
To help users navigate in this section, the interface will suggest the most popular AIs. This feature ensures that users can quickly identify the AIs that are trending or highly rated. Additionally, AI chatbots will be organized into specific categories. These includes categories that provide general advice and support creative tasks.
It is important to note that WhatsApp plans to remove the Communities tab from the bottom navigation bar. This will make it possible for WhatsApp to introduce the new AI-powered chats tab. This change follows the recent update that moved the option to create communities to the Chats tab. The final details are not confirmed yet, but it seems that WhatsApp will prioritize AI features over the Communities section.
The feature that introduces a dedicated tab for AI-powered chats is under development, and it will be available in a future update. We will share a new article as soon as we have more details about this feature.
