RECORD MESSAGE – CALL EVENT

In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.18.7 update, we announced a revamped interface for the app settings. With the new interface, WhatsApp aims to make the app settings more modern and intuitive, as well as make it more consistent with the rules of Material Design 3 by introducing the profile tab. However, some beta testers also noticed something else by installing the previous update. Specifically, with the previous version and the new one, the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.18.8 update, some beta testers may experiment with a new animation!

As you can see in this video, WhatsApp has introduced an animation specifically to highlight the transition between these modes, along with a redesign for the tooltip. To discover if the changes are already enabled for your WhatsApp account, just tap the microphone button to see if the animation is available.

However, the update also brings something else new regarding calls. Some users might notice new messages within conversations when specific call events take place. Specifically, when a call is missed or it ends, the event in the chat has been redesigned to include more details. This could include the call duration or reasons for the missed call, like when a call is silenced due to the “Do Not Disturb” setting or “Silence Unknown Callers”, or a simple unanswered call.

This is the first time that WhatsApp has introduced an animation within the chat screen, and it has been highly appreciated by users. In our view, it would be very appreciated if WhatsApp were to introduce more animations, so it would enhance the overall user experience in order to add new dynamic elements to our conversations.

The redesigned tooltip when switching between audio and video mode and new call events are available to some beta testers that install the latest update of WhatsApp beta for Android from the Google Play Store, and they are rolling out to even more people over the coming days.
