DISCOVER CHANNEL

In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.8.6 update, we announced that WhatsApp is working on channels, a new one-to-many tool for broadcasting information. With this feature, users will be able to easily receive useful updates from other people they want to get news from. WhatsApp is continuing to work on its channels feature to ensure that users have the best possible experience when it will be released. In fact, thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.12.4 update available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on a feature to discover new channels!

As you can see in this screenshot, there will be a new section that allows users to search for specific channels. In this section, you can enter a text to search for a channel by its name. In addition, this section provides users with three filters to use when searching for channels in order to sort the results: recently added, popularity, and alphabetically.

In our opinion, this feature will be helpful so users can search for a specific channel right within WhatsApp, without opening deep links. Using filters can help users quickly find the channels they are looking for without having to manually sift through a large number of results. By applying filters such as “recently added” or “alphabetically”, people can narrow down the results, making it easier for users to find the right channel.

In addition, we think that the popularity filter will particularly be useful as it helps users discover channels that are popular among other users. By using the popularity filter, users can discover these channels more easily, and can also get a sense of which channels are currently trending on WhatsApp. This can also help users to identify and follow channels that are authentic and trustworthy, and avoid channels that may be less reliable.

The ability to discover new channels is under development and it will be released to beta testers in a future update of the app. As always, we will post an additional article when we have further information to share with you.
