FOOTER FOR END-TO-END ENCRYPTION

In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.11.10 update, we announced that WhatsApp was rolling out a new footer for different sections of the app: it is used to inform people that their chats, calls, and status updates, are always secured by end-to-end encryption. This footer has already been released to some beta testers in the past, but WhatsApp is now releasing the feature to more people after installing one of the most recent beta updates from the Play Store, in particular the 2.22.17.6 build:

The new footer shows up at the bottom of your chat list, calls, devices list, and status updates: for example, the footer at the bottom of your chat list indicates that your personal messages are end-to-end encrypted. When the user taps the new footer, a new security page shows up (and it is the same one redesigned within WhatsApp Settings > Account > Security): this page informs the user what is secured by using end-to-end encryption such as all your text and voice notes (including audio files), audio and video calls, photos, videos, and documents, location sharing, and status updates.
The new footer is available to more beta testers today and more activations are planned over the coming weeks for everyone.
