Yesterday we have announced that WhatsApp was working on a large link preview on WhatsApp for iOS:

Today WhatsApp is working on the same feature on the Android app, bringing high quality previews:
Not all websites support large previews, so WhatsApp will show the usual small thumbnail in this case.
