WhatsApp beta for Android 2.19.151: what’s new?

Like Love Haha Wow Sad Angry

WhatsApp has recently submitted a new update through the Google Play Beta Program, bringing the version up to 2.19.151.
In this article you will find two unreleased features.
Please don’t be angry if these features are not available for you or if you preferred something else.. WhatsApp is (slowly) working on a lot of features, we just need to be patient.
Let’s find out together now what is new ..

  • The QR Code and Share To Facebook features are not available yet.
  • WhatsApp is working on these features in this update in order to ensure the best bug-free experience for you, before the release for everyone.
  • For this reason, there is no issue if you have updated your WhatsApp beta version and they are not visible for you seen, that they under development.
  • We have no details about when these features will be released for everyone. So, for this reason, we invite you to be patient.

In April, I’ve announced that WhatsApp was planning to add a feature that quickly allowed to share your status updates to Facebook.

I can finally see some tracks of the feature: in the 2.19.151, WhatsApp is finally working to implement the Share To Facebook feature:

If the Facebook app is installed, WhatsApp will add a new option called Add to Facebook Story. When tapped, you will be redirected to Facebook to share your story.
Using this option, WhatsApp will allow to post your status updates on Facebook, that contain images, videos, GIFs and text.
The process is not automatic, the user has to manually use the option.

I’ve already announced in an article about iOS that WhatsApp was working on a QR Code feature.

The news was announced 6 months ago on iOS (that’s still under development), but today we have finally news for Android.
The feature is not available yet for development reasons. However, when the feature will be enabled, a new QR Code button will be added in the Profile section:

If the user taps the QR Code icon, a new section will be presented, showing your personal QR Code, ready to be shared:

If you share your QR Code, you are sharing your phone number. Everyone will scan your QR Code can contact you on WhatsApp: for this reason you should be very careful to share it.
WhatsApp gives the possibility to revoke the QR Code at anytime, so you can stop your QR Code to work, replacing with another one.
This feature is useful for Businesses, that can publish the QR Code on their web sites.
As mentioned above, the feature is not available yet and it will be enabled in future.
