WhatsApp has recently submitted a new update through the Google Play Beta Program, bringing the version up to 2.18.363 version.
Let’s find out together what is new ..
The feature is officially enabled on the 2.18.370 update!
If it’s not visible yet for you, please wait a few hours.
- The new group call shortcut feature is not available yet.
- WhatsApp is working in order to add this feature, adding new improvements in the next updates. It’s not available yet for development reasons and the feature needs to get many other improvements before to be enabled for everyone.
For this reason, it’s ok if you have updated your WhatsApp version and it’s not working for you seen that the feature is under development.
GROUP CALL SHORTCUT
After adding this feature in the 184.108.40.206 IOS beta update, WhatsApp is finally experimenting the new group call shortcut on Android, bringing so new great improvements!
The feature works exactly like on iOS. When this feature is enabled, you can start a new group call directly tapping the new Group Call button:
After tapping that button, WhatsApp presents a sheet where there will be listed all group participants (except people that are not in your contacts list):
After you choose the contacts you want to start a call with, WhatsApp will present a voice and a video button, so you can choose the type of the call.
Before it was more complicated to start a group call. It was necessary to start a normal call first, then you could add other contacts in the call.
Thanks to this shortcut, you can directly start a group call (obviously it will work only if all contacts are in the same group).
The feature will be remotely enabled in the next beta updates: stay tuned, we will announce when the feature is enabled for everyone on the beta.
