After more than a year in development, the feature is finally moving to beta testers. Today, WhatsApp is rolling out private view counts for channel admins on the latest beta versions of WhatsApp for Android and iOS. With this feature, admins can see the view count of their updates directly in the message bubble. Instead of relying only on the number of forwards, channel admins can now get a more direct measure of how many people view their updates.

How private view counts work for channel admins

When an admin shares an update on their channel, WhatsApp displays a view counter directly in the message bubble. WhatsApp updates the number as more followers view the update. However, only the admin can see this counter. Followers who open the channel do not see any view count on the updates. The feature works the same way on both Android and iOS, so admins can check their view counts from either device.

Private view counts for channel admins are currently available to some beta testers on the latest versions of WhatsApp for Android and iOS. Some users on the latest stable version may also notice the same feature. Not every beta tester will see the feature right away, since WhatsApp is distributing it gradually. If the view counter does not appear yet on your channel updates, it should become available to more accounts over the coming weeks. WhatsApp has not announced when this feature will be available to everyone.
