VOICE WAVEFORMS
Last month, WhatsApp added the support to record voice notes to one of the recent updates of WhatsApp beta for Windows. Until yesterday, one of the missing features was waveforms for voice notes, already available on WhatsApp beta for Android, iOS, and Desktop (the Electron version) but WhatsApp is finally adding the support to the recent beta update of the app!
As you can see in this screenshot, waveforms finally show up within the chat bubble when you send or receive a voice note. Since this feature has been introduced in the recent beta update, it means that old voice notes may not be compatible with the new feature: in this case, empty voice waveforms will show up. It is not a bug but it happens when the metadata for the voice note is empty because it has been recorded by using an old build of WhatsApp or an incompatible Android version. In addition, the latest update brings a bug fix for notifications that didn't show up when the app was closed.
A lot of other features still need to be implemented to the UWP version, but the team is making very good progress in developing this native application: we trust that several important improvements and bug fixes will come in the next updates of the new beta app.
Waveforms for voice notes are available to all users that install the latest WhatsApp for Windows beta build from the Microsoft Store today.
