SHORTCUTS, ONLINE STATUS, AND POLLS

WhatsApp keeps working on improving the native Windows beta app available on the Microsoft Store. Today, the company is rolling out a new update to certain beta testers that brings some new features. The first one is the compatibility with the feature that lets us manage who can see when we are online:

Even if “last seen and online” shows up within our privacy settings, note that it is still not possible to manage this option: we’re sure there will be a future update that lets us manage our privacy settings at a later date.
If you followed our previous stories, you probably know that some users are able to create polls on WhatsApp beta for iOS and WhatsApp beta for Android. Finally, the ability to view shared polls is now available on WhatsApp beta for Windows:

As happens with the feature to hide our online status, it is still not possible to create a poll but at least you can view and vote for polls created by other group participants. You can also view polls created from your phone if you already have this feature on your mobile device since as we said before, it is available to some lucky users.

After installing the update, we also noticed a new option about messages in notifications within your notification settings that have been redesigned. In reality, it was already possible to manage notifications in the past but this update lets us exclude message notifications so you can still receive notifications when someone is calling you. There is other minor news to announce: it is also possible to zoom in and zoom out shared photos within your chats.

The last news is about a shortcut page available within WhatsApp Settings. Thanks to this page, we finally have a list of all keyboard shortcuts available within the application:

Action Shortcut
New chat CTRL N
Close current chat CTRL W
New group CTRL SHIFT N
Global search CTRL F
Search in chat CTRL SHIFT F
Open Settings CTRL P
Toggle mute CTRL M
Toggle read CTRL U
Open Emoji panel CTRL SHIFT M
Open GIF panel CTRL G
Go to previous chat CTRL SHIFT [
Go to next chat CTRL SHIFT ]
Open chat CTRL 1..9

These features are available after installing the latest version of WhatsApp beta for Windows from the Microsoft Store so be sure to update to the latest beta version when it shows up on the Store.
