Since the introduction of multi-device, WhatsApp is improving the desktop platform a lot, introducing several improvements and features. The dev team also opened a desktop beta program, that allows them releasing features for beta testers.
Unfortunately, the team is not releasing a new feature today, but WhatsApp is developing a new feature for a future update: the ability to manage privacy settings!
Actually, it’s not possible to manage privacy settings within WhatsApp Desktop: you have to use WhatsApp on your phone to change who can see your personal information. Seen that multi-device is helping WhatsApp Desktop to be independent of your phone, WhatsApp is now introducing missing features.
When the future update will be available, it’s possible to manage your privacy settings within WhatsApp Desktop Settings:
As you can see in this screenshot, you will be able to change who can see your last seen, profile photo, and about. In addition, you can enable or disable read receipts and you can choose who can add you in groups. It was already possible to manage blocked phone numbers but the option will be moved in this new section.
Unfortunately, there isn’t a known release date for this feature. We’re monitoring it to discover when it’s available for beta testers and we will inform you when it’s rolled out.
