Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.1.27 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp is working on a feature to implement a widget for accessing Meta AI!

As you can see from the attached screenshot, WhatsApp is exploring the implementation of a new feature that allows users to add a widget for accessing Meta AI directly from their Home Screen, scheduled for release in a future update. This new widget will be entirely optional and listed among the available widgets offered by WhatsApp. It will only appear as an option for accounts that already have access to AI-powered chats. Since the availability of AI-powered chats is currently limited to certain countries and select users, this widget may not be accessible to everyone at launch.

For users who already have access to AI-powered chats, the widget will provide an easy and direct way to initiate a conversation with Meta AI straight from their Home Screen in the future. The widget is designed to improve convenience by eliminating the need to open the WhatsApp app and navigate through its interface to access Meta AI. The widget will include a quick link to open the chat with Meta AI, allowing users to ask questions, request assistance, or engage with the AI in any supported way. In addition, it will feature a shortcut to capture a photo instantly and share it with Meta AI. This feature will allow users to ask the chatbot to edit the photo, explain its contents, or address any questions related to the image.

Through this new widget, WhatsApp aims to enhance interactions with AI-powered tools, making them more accessible and intuitive. The widget will ensure that users can perform tasks like photo edits or content analysis quickly without the extra steps of opening the app and locating Meta AI. We believe that users who frequently interact with Meta AI will likely find this widget particularly useful for saving time and effort in the future.
