GROUPS IN COMMON
In December 2022, WhatsApp released a new feature for the desktop client that lets users quickly search for their recent groups by entering a contact name. Many users find this feature particularly useful in situations where they may not recall the name of a group but can remember a participant of that group. After installing the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.6.20 update from the Google Play Store, some beta testers may get the same feature while searching for a contact:

As you can see in this screenshot, a new section is available when users search for contacts within the search bar: a section called groups in common. This new feature provides users with more information when searching for contacts within the search bar. In particular, as we said above, this new feature is the same as the one implemented on WhatsApp Desktop, which allows users to see the groups they have in common with their contacts without opening their chat info to see the list of groups in common.
Note that this feature is also rolling out to some iOS beta testers, but they have to install the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.5.0.75 update available on the TestFlight app in order to see the section “groups in common” within their search results.
The feature that allows users to see the list of groups in common when searching for contacts is available for some beta testers after installing the latest update of WhatsApp beta for Android on the Play Store, and it is rolling out to even more people over the coming days.
