RECENT GROUPS

In June, WhatsApp released a new chat filter button on Desktop that lets users quickly filter their conversation by unread, so only chats with new incoming unread messages would show up. When using WhatsApp Desktop linked with a business account, other filters are available: contacts, non-contacts, and groups.
Unfortunately, the ability to filter your conversations by groups is not available for non-business accounts, but WhatsApp is now implementing a different feature within the search bar that lists your recent groups:

It is possible you joined many groups on WhatsApp and do not remember the name of a group in common with a specific contact: thanks to a feature released to some users, you can get a list of all your recent groups in common with a contact by entering their name within the search bar. Note that a feature that lists all your groups in common with a particular contact is already available within their chat info but WhatsApp is making it easier and faster to use right within the chat list.

The ability to search for your recent groups by entering a contact name has been released to some users on WhatsApp Desktop and it will be rolled out to more people over the coming days.
