FILTER GROUP CHATS

In the article about the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.14.17 update, we shared some information about a new feature: chat filters. With this feature, WhatsApp aims to provide users with better control over their conversations, making it easier to manage and prioritize their messages. The feature is still in development but, thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.19.7 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered important improvements regarding this feature!

As you can see in this screenshot, WhatsApp decided to update the filters available with this feature, for a future update of the app. Specifically, WhatsApp added a new filter that will allow users to get a list of their groups by excluding individual chats. You can also see that the “Personal” filter has been renamed to “Contacts” in order to provide a clearer distinction between individual chats and group chats, as the “Personal” filter also included groups and communities in the past. Instead, the new “Contacts” filter will only include individual conversations. In addition, the “Business” filter has been removed.

With the ability to filter groups, users will be able to find and organize their chats faster. Users often join multiple groups for various purposes, such as work, family, friends, or hobbies. With a dedicated filter, they can quickly access and manage their group conversations, knowing that this filter exclusively includes group chats. In our opinion, the new “Groups” filter also shows their commitment to improving the application by listening to user feedback and requests. A lot of people asked for an easier way to manage and organize their group chats for years by requesting a dedicated tab. Finally, the introduction of the “Groups” filter marks an important step towards enhancing the user experience when filtering their conversations.

The feature to filter group chats is under development and it will be available in a future update of the app. As always, we have plans to share a new article when we have further information regarding this feature.
